Michelle is an Accredited Specialist and a 2023 Doyles Guide recommended solicitor in Family Law. She has worked almost exclusively in the area of Family Law since being admitted as a solicitor in 2010. Only 6% of solicitors in New South Wales are accredited specialist in their field and Michelle is one them. Michelle completed a Master of Applied Law (Family Law) in 2013.
Before starting Gillard Family Lawyers, Michelle worked for two other law firms in Newcastle and had the benefit of working under an Accredited Specialists in Family Law with more than 30 years’ experience. Michelle completed her practical legal training (formerly known as articles) with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.


Michelle is a tenacious and strong advocate for her clients. She regularly negotiates outstanding outcomes for clients in an attempt to minimise legal costs.
Michelle has extensive experience in appearing in court in property and parenting matters. She regularly attends mediations and conciliation conferences. Michelle often appears as a legal agent in court for other solicitors and firms.

It is important to Michelle that her clients know that she is approachable and genuine. Michelle ensures that clients know their options and she has a strong focus on practical advice and solutions.
Michelle Gillard has been admitted to the High Court of Australia, the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the Supreme Court of Victoria. She is on the New South Wales Legal Aid Solicitors panel. She is also a member of the Law Society of NSW, the Law Society of Newcastle and the Hunter Valley Family Law Practitioners Association.
